Both team captains decided to put the best players in doubles match on the second day.

Ecuador was chasing the chance to stay in match by eventual win in doubles game and Croatia went for the straight 3-0 win.

Brothers Nicholas and Giovanni Lapentti played for Ecuador's doubles, confronting Croatian double Marin Cilic and Ivo Karlovic.

As always, doubles match offered some interesting moments, sometimes even excellent team coordination, net attacks, top speed serves and voleys.

Ecuador team presented very good play in front of some 4000 spectators in Nova sportska dvorana Varazdin, giving Croatians hard time most of the match.

Cilic and Karlovic excelled in serving, voleying, passing, lobing, and attacking the Lapentti brothers point by point, game by game.

Finally the Croatian team won the last set and the whole match with 3-0 score, and advanced to 2010 Davis Cup quarterfinals match against Serbia, that defeated USA team in Belgrade.
